Ruth Yuvonne Courtney passed away peacefully at home on December 10, 2014.  She 
was born on September 1, 1926 to Charles and Ila (Shumway) Hamp in Lake 
Odessa.  Ruth married Fred Courtney in 1946 and raised two children.  She was a 
stay-at-home mom.  She was an avid reader of Louis L'Amour western novels and 
worked on many Search and Find books. 

Ruth was pre-deceased by her parents, husband Fred, son Ronald Courtney, and 
brothers Roger, Robert, and Donald Hamp.  Ruth is survived by daughter Bonnie 
Courtney Rogers, grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces, nephews and Sister 
Mildred Bopp, and daughter-in-law Diane Courtney.

 A joint memorial service for Fred and Ruth will be held at 1 p.m. Jan. 5, 2015 
at Koops Funeral Chapel in Lake Odessa.  In lieu of flowers, memorial 
contributions may be made to Bonnie Rogers, in care of Koops Funeral Chapel for 
final expenses in memory of Fred and Ruth Courtney.
