Hasting's Reminder - Sat. September 17, 2022

                                  LOIS COURTNEY

Lois Courtney, age 80 of Hasting's, MI passed away on September 10, 2022, at 
Thornapple Manor in Hastings.

Lois was born in Sunfield, MI, September 23, 1941, a daughter of Gertrude 
(Sleight0 and Harold Mc Diarmid. She was raised int eh Sunfield area, graduating 
from Sunfield High School in 1959.

Shortly after completing her education, Lois began working at Machine Products 
in Lake Odessa. It was here that she met the love of her life, Phares Courtney 
and on April 27, 1963, the couple was united in marriage at the Sunfield 
Methodist Church.

Lois and Phares made their home together in Sunfield where they raised their 
family. The couple spent over 43 years at their Sunfield home before relocation 
to Hastings.

Lois left Machine Products after a short time, and took a position as a 
telephone operator in Sunfield, where she especially enjoyed helping connect 
those serving in the armed forces with their loved ones back home. Most of her 
working career however, was spent at Hannah's Meat Market, and Carl's 
Supermarket in Sunfield where she retired in 1996.

In her spare time Lois enjoyed playing bingo. Lois was an excellent baker and 
was famous for her homemade sugar cookies.During her quiet time, she enjoyed 
crocheting, and making scrubbies which she has made thousands of!

Lois is survived by her beloved husband, Phares Courtney Jr.,; her children, 
Phares (Lori) Courtney III, Kevin (Kitrina) Courtney; grandchildren, Branden, 
Kelly Courtney and families, Stephanie(Tom)McKinney, Trenton (Lexi) Courtney 
great-grandchildren, Trenton Jr., Haven, Paisley Courtney and Lincoln McKinney.
