Courtney, who died at the home of his daughter, Mrs. William Hass, in Orange township, was held this morning from her home. Mr. Courtney is one of the pioneer residents of this part of the country. He was born in Sandusky, Ohio, February 11, 1850, and came with his mother to Orange township at the age of 10 years, his father having died when he was very young. In 1870 he was married to Miss Achsha Thomas, who died 17 years ago. He is survived by the following children: Charles Courtney, of Orange township; Mrs. Chester Minier, of Grand Ledge; Mrs. Jessie Hitchcock, of this city; Fred Courtney, of Saranac, and Mrs. William Hass, at whose home he died.
