Mary R. Cowles Dies at Lansing

Mrs. Mary R. Cowles, 82, former Woodland resident, passed away Thursday evening 
at the Extended Care Center in Lansing following a long illness.

She was born in Barry County, Feb. 6, 1888, the daughter of John and Anna 
Robinson and married Benjamin Cowles of Lansing in June, 1912. They resided at 
Lansing before moving to Hastings and following his retirement from the E.W. 
Bliss Co. they moved to Woodland in 1953. He passed away June 13, 1967.

Mrs. Cowles was a member of the Woodland United Methodist Church.

Surviving are a daughter, Mrs. John (Frances) Williams of Lansing and four 
grandchildren.

Funeral services were held Sunday at 2 at the Pickens Funeral Chapel, with Rev. 
Marvin Zimmerman officiating. Burial was in Woodland Memorial Park.
