Cowley in heaven on April 14, 2003. He was born May 10, 1920 in Ilion, New York the son of Ray and Hattie (Crossen) Cowley. He most recently resided with his son Jerry in Freeport after living in Alabama for the last eleven years. He was a World War II vet where he received a silver star medal. He retired form Ferris State University in 1982 after many hears of service. Edwin leaves seven children; son Edwin (Mary Cowley) of Warrior, Alabama, son Donald (Teresa) Cowley of Boca Raton, Florida, daughter Pam McCanless of Sunfield, son Jerry Cowley of Freeport, daughter Gwen (Dennis) Watson of Saranac, son Ted Cowley of Ionia, and son Fred (Lisa) Cowley of Hastings; twenty-four grandchildren and numerous great and great-great grandchildren. Funeral services will be held 12 p.m. Thursday at Lake Funeral Home in Saranac with Rev. Robert Roush officiating. Interment will be in Saranac Cemetery. A visitation will be held Thursday at 11 a.m. until time of service. Anyone wishing may make a memorial contribution to Ionia Area Hospice.
