William R. Cowling, 73, of 428 North Jackson died shortly after admittance to 
Ionia county memorial hospital Monday.  He was born July 24, 1903 in Palo, the 
son of Mr. and Mrs. William Elmer Cowling.  He had lived in the Ionia area 
until moving to Mt. Pleasant in 1953 and returned to the area earlier this 
year.  Mr. Cowling had been a farmer all his life.

Survivors include his wife Grace of Charlotte; four sons, Richard, Lester and 
Meredith of Mt. Pleasant and Charles of Charlotte, seven daughters, Mrs. Arlene 
Taylor of Ionia, Mrs. Carol Laloni, and Louise Cowling of Charlotte; Cora 
Hanson of Lapeer and Gretta, Mabel and Verdagene; 22 grandchildren and one 
great-grandchild.

Services are Thursday at 2 p.m. from the Myers-Roetman funeral home.  The 
family will receive friends and relatives at the funeral home Tuesday and 
Wednesday 7 to 9 p.m.
