COX MiddlevillE, MI - Rolland "Rolly" G. Cox, age 86, of Middleville, passed away peacefully after a courageous battle with cancer on April 6, 2019. He was preceded in death by his parents George Cox, Waive Long, stepfather Stanley Long; sister, Jean Kenyon; in-laws, Arthur and Lucille Gerry; sister- in-law, Lila Getty and brother-in-law, William Gerry. He is survived by his loving wife of 64 years, Colleen; daughters, Lynne (John) Kyser and Cari Nicolai; four granddaughters and six great- grandchildren; his sister Donna Johnson; brother-in-law, Robert Getty; many nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews. After high school he enrolled in the Navy Reserves and then enlisted in the Navy where he served during the Korean War. Rolly was well liked by his many friends and family. A happy go lucky guy with a great sense of humor. Always on the go, ambitious to a fault. Willing to help whenever and wherever needed. He was a talented skilled carpenter, always busy in his man cave. His hobbies where many, bowling, fishing, snowmobiling, woodworking, gardening, yard work, watching his granddaughters participate in sports, band and theatre activities. He loved spending time at the cottage on Big Lake with his family and friends. He was active in the Middleville Community. He served as a volunteer fireman for nearly 24 years in both Caledonia and Middleville fire departments. Rolly was active in the Village Players as a set builder. He retired from SteelCase Inc. after 18 years where he was a welder. Memorial services will be held on Monday, April 15,2019 at 11 a.m. April 15, 2019 at 11 a.m. at the Middleville United Methodist Church, 111 Church St, Middlevile,MI. 49333. In lieu of flowers, those desiring may make memorial contributions to the American Cancer Society in his memory.
