Cox, 53, former Portland resident, will be held at Neller funeral home Wednesday at 1:30 p.m. Rev. James Eddleston of Portland Congregational church will officiate and burial will be at Portland cemetery. Mr. Cox and a party of seven men from Portland left Thursday morning for a 10-day golfing vacation at Southern Pines, N.C. and was stricken with a fatal heart attack while playing golf Saturday afternoon. He had lived in Portland until three months ago when he moved to Lansing and resided at 3419 Cornelia drive. Survivors include his mother, Mrs. Clara Cox, and a half brother, Thomas Taliaferro of Lansing, and a niece, Mrs. Robert Teunion of Flint. Mr. Cox had served twice as past master of 31 F&AM of Portland, and was a member of Ionia Commanders 11 Knights Templar, and the Dewitt-Clinton Consistory. He was supervisor of office service section of Michigan Conservation department and had been with the department 23 years. Funeral service will be under auspices of the Masonic lodge of Portland.
