His death was attributed to face cancer. He was taken to the University hospital, April 13 and his condition became critical Thursday of last week. He was born August 21, 1866, at Cambridge Shire, England, the son of Job and Sarah Cox. At the age of 13 he came to United States with his parents, and was married to Miss Nellie Angell who survives. Most of his married life was spent in and around Ionia township. At the time of his death his home was in Easton township. He was a member of the Ionia Church of Christ. Survivors beside the wife, are a son, Horace Cox of Grand Rapids, and a daughter, Miss Sarah Cox of Grand Rapids; three sisters, Mrs. Jennie Wheeler of Ionia, Mrs. Anna Dow and Miss Hilda Cox of Detroit; three brothers, Benjamin Cox of Ionia, A.W. Cox of Detroit, and Fred Cox of Grand Rapids. Three grandchildren, Audry, Lois and Harold Cox of Grand Rapids also survive. Funeral arrangements have not yet been made.
