Coykendall, the other victim from this place, lay unidentified for many hours at Spring’s morgue, Grand Rapids, but his name and address were finally made out on a blood stained letter that had been found in his clothing. It is said that he and Wm. Smith of Saranac occupied the same seat, and it is probable that he was the one pinned in the wreckage with Smith when the letter was released, as mentioned in Sunday’s Free Press. Coykendall was dead when found, his head having been crushed in, and Smith died from his injuries. Frank Coykendall and Mrs. E. F. Coykendall were notified of the death of their brother and husband and made immediate arrangements to care for the body. Mr. Coykendall was formerly a resident of Saranac, but he and his brother Guy came here early in the year and purchased a meat market, which they continued to run up to a week or so ago when they sold out. He was just returning to Lake Odessa after an absence of a week or more when his dire fate overtook him. He was born in Lenawee county 31 years ago and was an energetic and able business man. He leaves a wife and child, a mother and two brothers. His remains were taken to Middleville, the home of his parents, for burial. The heartfelt sympathy of the whole community, including the Times is with the bereaved of both families.
