He was born in Owosso, the son of Franklin and Barbara Jean (Howe) Crandell, both of whom preceded him in death. He relocated to Belding with his family while just an infant, attending Belding and Carson City-Crystal Area Schools and worked on a farm in the Carson City area, as well. He was also employed by several local manufacturers during his lifetime, including Frigidaire and Wolverine World Wide. Dale enjoyed fishing, woodworking projects and loved a good debate. He also loved spending time with family and friends, looking at pictures and sharing memories and stories. Dale leaves to cherish his memory, his daughters, Shelly (Tracy) Beyer of Crystal, and Teressa (Daniel) Cairns of Alto; grandchildren, Emily, Kaitlin, Alysa (Martin), Lyndi, Jenna and Madison; a great-grandson, Josiah; siblings, Sharon Montague of Arden, N.C., Gary (Julie) Crandell of Lansing, Loren Crandell, Vickie (Verne) Wilder, Allen Crandell, Dawn (Roy) Cullison, Debra Nash, all of Belding, and Richard Crandell of Newberry; and many nieces and nephews. in addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by and infant daughter, Melissa Lynn Crandell; two sisters, Priscilla Bauman and Ruth Ann McComb; a brother, Franklin Crandell; and infant siblings, Billy and Donna. A memorial service will be 4 p.m. on Monday at Verdun Family Funeral Home, 303 S. Bridge St., Belding, with Pastor Roger May officiating. The family will greet visitors for an hour prior to the service beginning at 3 p.m. Those planning an expression of sympathy, are welcome to consider a memorial contribution in Dale’s memory to the wishes of the family.
