Lyons Herald, 15 & 22 Jan 1920

David C. Crawford died at his home in Belding Sunday evening following a stroke 
of paralysis on Saturday, Jan. 3.  He was at one time a resident of Lyons and a 
member of the local G.A.R. Post, and had served several terms as county 
surveyor.  The body was to have been brought to Lyons for burial in the family 
lot here on Wednesday, but the roads were almost impassable, so now it is 
planned to hold the burial services on Friday.

Capt. David C. Crawford, who died at his home near Belding Jan. 11th, was 
buried in the Lyons cemetery last Sunday.  The funeral was set originally for 
Jan. 14, and was postponed to Jan. 16, both times the roads were impassable.  
The party left Belding Sunday morning at ten o’clock and arrived in Lyons at 
four in the afternoon, where the body was taken to the bank of Ruel & Upton 
where brief services were held and the body laid to rest in the Lyons 
cemetery.  The funeral party were served dinner at the home of Mr. and Mrs. 
C.A. Sperling before their return to Belding.
