Dale Crawford, 47, 309 Grape Street, Portland, died Wednesday in a traffic accident in Accra, Ghana. He was born May 22, 1939 in Ann Arbor, the son of Charles and Dorothy Gordon Crawford. At the time of his death, he was pastor of the Portland United Methodist Church. Survivors include his wife, Shirley; three daughters, Marsha Crawford of Columbia, Md., Laura Crawford of South Hadley, Mass., and Alisa Crawford of Mount Morris; three stepsons, Curtis Bleich of Stockton, N.J., Jeffrey Bleich of Bakersfield, Calif., and Edward Bleich of Muskegon; and one grandchild. Also surviving are one brother, C. Richard Crawford of San Francisco, and four step brothers, Harley Wedel Jr., of California, Richard Wedel of Kalamazoo and George Wedel and Roger Wedel of Scotts. A memorial service is scheduled for Tuesday at 1 p.m. at the Portland United Methodist Church. Officiating will be Bishop Judith Craig, Dr. Ronald Houk, the Rev. Kenneth Karlzen and the Rev. Clyde Miller. A memorial has been established in care of the Portland United Methodist Church, 310 Bridge Street. Arrangements are by the Neller Funeral Home, Portland.
