Dildine Jr., died at the home of the latter, on Dexter street, about noon yesterday. -------- The funeral services over the remains of James Crawford were attended from the residence of his daughter, Mrs. Dildine, on Dexter street, at 12 o’clock on Sunday, from whence the body was conveyed to the Easton church for services by Rev. Alfred Cornell, at 2 o’clock. He was buried beside his wife in the Easton cemetery. James Crawford was born in Glasgow, Scotland, February 14, 1815; came to Ionia in February, 1834, thus making him a resident of Ionia county almost 59 years. When a free ferry was established, it was the practice of the county commissioners to let the contract for keeping the ferry to the lowest bidder. Mr. Crawford was one of the men who drew the prize one year. The amount was somewhere about $120. The ferryman was in those days a very important personage.
