He was born Dec. 8, 1930 in Bessemer to Edmund A. and F. Alice (Chapman) Crawford. Robert graduated from the old Lyons High School, where his parents were teachers. He received his doctorates of medicine from the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor. He received his doctorates of medicine from the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor. During his life he worked for a number of facilities in Michigan, Ohio, and Arizona. He practiced medicine in local facilities in both Traverse City and Ionia. Robert, with his family, served seven years with the Wydcliffe Bible Translators as a doctor in Mexico. He leaves behind his wife of 50 years, Charlotte Crawford of Cottonwood, Ariz.; his son, Ian Crawford of Cottonwood, Ariz.; two daughters, Carrie Crawford of Prescott Valley, Ariz., and Beth Alice King of Lafayette Calif.; three brothers, John (Gwen) Crawford of Grand Forks, N.D., David (Sonja) Crawford of Lyons, and Bruce (Ruth) Crawford of Kalkaska; two sisters, Maxine (Art) Freel of Millersburg, and Joyce (Emory) Freeman of East Lansing; as well as three grandchildren. A memorial service will be held Saturday, May 10, at 11 a.m. at the Lyons Baptist Church, located at 507 Hunt St., Lyons.
