Ionia Sentinel Standard, 24 Aug 1987

Clyde F. Creager, 89, of Ionia, died Saturday morning at Ionia County Memorial
Hospital after a lengthy illness.  Born Sept. 24, 1897, in Ithaca, Mich., he was
the son of James and Susan Bates Creager.  He was married to the former Nila
Thomas of Grand Rapids on Sept. 28, 1930, in Grand Rapids.

A veteran of World War I., he was a member of the VFW Post in Holt for 50 years
and was a member of DeWitt Masonic Lodge No. 272 for more than 60 years.  He
retired in 1953 after serving with the U.S. Postal Service for 33 years.  After
retiring from the U.S.P.S., he owned and operated a Christmas tree farm in Ionia
from 1955 to 1978.

He is survived by his wife, Nila.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday at 3 p.m. from the Rich Street Chapel,
Montgomery Funeral Home, with the Rev. Jim Houseman officiating.  Burial will be
in Balcom Cemetery.  Visiting hours at the funeral home will be Monday and
Tuesday from 7 to 8:30 p.m.  Memorials have been established for Ionia Area
Hospice and the American Cancer Society.
