Kay Marie Creighton, aged 65, of Lake Odessa, was called home late Tuesday 
afternoon, Dec. 30, 2008.  Kay was born in Portland on May 23, 1943 to Irven 
and Marie (Torrey) Burgess.  She graduated from Portland High School in 1961.  
Kay had been employed by Twin City Foods in Lake Odessa for 21 years prior to 
her retirement in 2006.  She loved dancing, bowling, traveling, making 
desserts, and playing cards.  Music placed an important part of Kay’s life; 
she had been a member of the Chancel Choir at Central United Methodist Church 
in Lake Odessa, and had sung with the Lakewood Choral Society for over 20 
years.

Kay is survived by her son, Scott Creighton of Orlando, Fla.; fiancée Darr 
Farr of Lake Odessa; brother, Glen (Dotty) Burgess of San Diego, Calif.; and 
sister Sherilyn (Phil) Thomas of Portland.  Kay dearly loved and enjoyed her 
many nieces and nephews and wide circle of friends.  She was preceded in death 
by her parents.

Visitation will be held from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. on Sunday, Jan. 4, 2009 at the 
Koops Funeral Chapel in Lake Odessa.  The funeral service will be held at 11 
a.m. on Monday, Jan. 5 at the Central United Methodist Church in Lake Odessa.  
Burial will be in Portland Cemetery.  The family has suggested that memorial 
contributions may be made to the American Red Cross, the Ionia County 
Commission on Aging, or the Central United Methodist Church.
