Crippen, whose dangerous illness was announced in these columns last week, died last Friday night. Funeral services were held at the residence Sunday afternoon under the auspices of the Masonic fraternity, of which Order he was an honored member. Revs. Staley, Quick and McDonnell took part in the services. Burial took place in River Ridge cemetery. Mr. Crippen was sick only about six days and during that time, the best medical attendance failed to restore him to health. He was conscious up to within two minutes of his death, and was informed several hours before his death that he could not survive. He said that he had tried to live an honorable life and that he had no fear of death. The thoughts of parting with his wife, three sons, and wide circle of dear friends grieved him, but he realized that "all who are born of flesh must die" and that his time had come, but that the parting was not permanent and lasting. He was an honored citizen, a fond husband, an affecionate father, and will be greatly missed.
