R. Crispin, 349 Rice street, Sunday morning at 3:30. Early Saturday morning he slipped on the pavement near the Wagner brothers’ clothing store. He struck on the back of his head. The only injury which he seemed to have received at the time was a small cut. He was again down town in the afternoon. He fell about 5:30 in front of the Howard cleaning parlors. Those who saw him fall thought that he would soon rally from the spell, but he did not, and was carried into the store by several men. He was later removed to his home. He never regained consciousness. The doctors stated that the cause of death was concussion of the brain. He has been the janitor a the Baptist church for quite a number of years. He was the only licensed bill peddler in the city, and all the merchants depended on him for this purpose. He also delivered the Grand Rapids Herald along the business section each morning. Charlie was well liked in Ionia, and was good citizen. He was faithful to every trust imposed upon him, dependable in the execution of every duty, a quiet, friendly and gentlemanly man. Besides his mother and his sister, Miss Ethel Crispin, he leaves two brothers, Lynn, of Olympia, Washington, and E. S. Wilmarth, of Detroit. The funeral will be held from the late home at 2:30 Tuesday afternoon. Rev. E. E. Branch will officiate. Burial will take place in Oak Hill cemetery.
