Moon Crispin, 91, church worker and oldest member of the Ionia First Baptist church, died at her home at 449 Rice street New Years evening, January 1, at 10 o’clock after an extended illness. She had been confined to her home for a number of years due to ill health. She was born November 30, 1856, in Bridgewater, New York, where she spent her early childhood. She came to Ionia with her widowed mother when she was ten years old. Five of her mother’s brothers lived here at that time., She was married to J.R. Crispin of Benzie county on October 7, 1875. He preceded her in death in 1918. In 1880 she and her husband moved to Ionia into the house which has been her home for 68 years. She joined the First Baptist church of Ionia in her girlhood and continued as a member throughout her life. At the time of her death she was the oldest member both in years and in duration of membership. Mrs. Crispin is survived by a daughter, Ethel, of Ionia; three sons, Lynn of Olympia, Wash., and Wilmarth and Edwin S. of Detroit; two grandsons, John W. and Dwight M. Crispin of Detroit; and two great grandchildren, Mrs. William S. Adair and John W. Crispin of Detroit. Funeral services will be conducted at the Stone funeral home Monday at 2:30 p.m. with Dr. J. Lee Lewis officiating. Interment will be in the family lot at Oak Hill cemetery.
