Crittenden at Dearborn A military funeral was held Monday afternoon at the Neller funeral Home for Richard Crittenden, a long time resident of Portland. Mr. Crittenden died July 1 at the Veteran's Hospital in Dearborn at the age of 65. Services were conducted by the Rev. Lowell McCarty and members of the Portland Post 1090, V.F.W.. Pall bearers were Floyd Reed, Herman Fedewa, James Goff, Arthur Balderson, Ivan Wilcox and Thomas Keusch. Interment was in Portland Cemetery. Mr. Crittenden was born in Ypsilanti September 14, 1887, the son of Mr. and Mrs. Norman Crittenden. He had lived here with his sister, Mrs. Mary Olmstead, at 715 James St. "Dick" played base ball in Portland for many years and later played with several minor professional leagues in the central and western states. He was a guard in the local VFW. He is survived by his sister and two nephews.
