Ionia Sentinel Standard - May 31, 2011


Marian M. Croel, 92, of Ionia, devoted wife, mother and grandmother, passed 
away on Friday, May 27, 2011. She was born Sept. 16, 1918 in Orange Township 
the daughter of Charlie and Myrtle (Banfield) Miles.



Marian enjoyed the Ionia Free Fair, served on the Board of the Ionia County 
Social Services for many years and was a longtime member of the LeValley United 
Methodist church.



She married Russell Croel on June 26, 1936 and they shared 65 years together. 
Marian was preceded in death by her husband, Russell; brother, Richard Miles; 
and sister, Meredith Sandborn.



Surviving are her children, Philip (Suzanne) Croel of Florida, Steve (Janet) 
Croel of Ionia, and Danon “Dan” (Sara) Croel of Lyons, Nicholene “Nicki” Dawson 
of Florida and Angela (Aziz) Tayfun of Virginia; 13 grandchildren; 16 great 
grandchildren; sister, Vivian Coe; many nieces and nephews.



The Funeral Service will be conducted by Pastor Den Slattery at 11 a.m., 
Wednesday, June 1, 2011 at LeValley United Methodist church, 4081 Kelsey Hwy., 
Ionia. Interment will be in Tuttle Cemetery. The family will receive friends 
from 5 to 8 p.m., Tuesday at the Schrauben-Lehman Funeral Home, 220 Rich St., 
Ionia.
