Ionia County News  -  Thursday May 25, 1950

                                 WILLIAM S. CROEL

William S. Croel, Ionia township, died in the Ionia County Memorial Hospital, 
Friday afternoon, May 19. His death was result of a stroke suffered two weeks 
earlier.

Mr. Croel, son of William and Emeline Croel, was born April 21, 1879, on a farm 
only a few rods from the home where he had lived  for 48 years. In addition to 
his farming operation he had been a stock buyer for 25 years.

In June 1903 he was married to mary Alice Chickering of Belding, who died 
November 15, 1947.

Surviving Mr.Croel are two sons, and a daughter; Russel of Ionia township, 
William and Mrs.Alice Smith, both of Ionia; two brothers, Claude and Lawrence 
Croel, and a sister, Mrs.James Brown all of Ionia township. Also eight grand-
children. Another sister, Mrs.Walter Herrick of Carson City died in 1946.

Rev. Willis B.Hunting officiated at the funeral service held Monday afternoon 
from LeValley Methodist church of which Mr.Croel had been a member for many 
years.

Bearers wer Arnold Nelson, Stanton, Robert Croel, Lyons, Gordon Fitch, Herbert 
Gostrick, Harry Maus, Elba Wandel, Ionia. Burial in Tuttle Cemetery.
