Cromwell. Mr. S.J. Cromwell, who has been very feeble for many months past, and who has been confined to the house since the 14th of Nov., peacefully died on Thursday evening, Jan. 15, aged 63 years. Mr. Cromwell was born in Montgomery county, N.Y. In February, 1859, he was married to Mrs. Mary Martin, who survives him. When residing at Vineland, N.J., he made a public profession of religion and united with the Presbyterian Church. Subsequently he removed to Amsterdam, N.Y., and transferred his membership to that place. Eight years ago he came to Michigan, and was appointed to a position at the station of the D.L. & N.R.R. at Howard. The duties there were found too onerous for him, and a year later he became agent at the Kiddville station. About this time his family rejoined him from N.Y., and subsequently he settled at Belding, still continuing his duties at Kiddville. He retained this position until failing health compelled him to vacate his place about the first of October. He leaves a wife, daughter and son, a little boy of 8 years, to deeply mourn his loss. Mr. Cromwell was a quiet and peaceable citizen of unblemished character, and approached the final change with christian composure and resignation. His funeral was attended at the Christian Church in this place, by a large and sympathizing audience, on Saturday last. The bereaved family have the heartfelt sympathy of the entire community.
