Thurs.March 9, 1923 WILLIAM CROSBY OF DETROIT BROUGHT HERE FOR BURIAL William John Crosby was born at Gowertown Gower, South Wales, England, August 13,1885 and departed this life March 2, 1923 at the age of 38 years, 6 month and two days.at the Receiving Hospital, Detroit. He was the eldest son of Mr and Mrs William Crosby of this vicinity. At the age of 12 years he came to America with his parents. He worked in Detroit for a number of years, but was well known in this community. He was in Detroit when he was taken with pneumonia. He was taken to Receiving Hospital, where he received the best of care. He suffered greatly for three weeks and one day, until death released him of his great suffering. He leaves to mourn their loss a father and mother, five brothers and a sister at home, Robert, Walter, and Mary Crosby, two brothers, Albert and family and Joseph Crosby and family of Ionia; one brother, George Crosby and family of Lansing; one sister, Mrs. Loren Purdy and family of Ionia and one sister preceded him four years ago, Mrs Ada Fox. He also leaves a number of other relatives and a host of friends. The funeral was held at the Methodist Episcopal Church on Sunday at 2:00 p.m. March 4, conducted by Rev. R.E. Showerman. CARD OF THANKS We wish to thank our friends for the many acts of kindness during the illness and death of our son and brother. We also wish to extend our thanks to Rev. Showerman for the beautiful songs and comforting words at this time.
