He was born on September 30, 1908 in Sebewa the son of Leonard and Della (Aves) Cross. Allen was a farmer all his life. He also worked for several years at Mitchell Bentley in Ionia. Allen lived his entire life on the family centennial farm in Sebewa Township. He was a member of the LeValley United Methodist Church and a life member of the Farm Bureau. He married Leah Lillian Beland on April 15, 1930. They recently celebrated their 72nd wedding anniversary. He was preceded in death by a daughter-in-law, Jerilou Cross; brothers, Ray, Howard, and Ralph Cross; sister, Reva Clark. Surviving are his wife of 72 years, Leah Cross; sons Robert (Judy) Cross, Dean (Maureen) Cross, Donald Cross, and Kendall Cross; daughter, Elaine (Don) Nash; 14 grandchildren; 26 great-grandchildren; three great great-grandchildren; also survived by several step grandchildren and great-grandchildren, along with numerous nieces and nephews. Services were conducted by the Rev. David L. Flagel, Pastor May 29 at the LeValley United Methodist Church, Ionia with graveside services following at East Sebewa Cemetery. Arrangements were handled by Schrauben-Lehman Funeral Home, Portland. Contributions may be made to the Heartland Health Care Center of Ionia.
