The Lake Odessa Wave, Friday, November 18, 1898

John Cross died at the home of his son in Sebewa, in a very sudden and 
peculiar manner.  Tuesday he was out hunting with a party from this village, 
and being taken with a pain in the stomach, went to the house.  A doctor was 
called to treat his case, who thought it was not a very serious one, and left 
such medicine as he thought was needed.  Mrs. Cross was aroused from her sleep 
about half past nine o’clock, by his heavy breathing and before she could 
arouse her son, who slept up stairs, Mr. Cross had yielded his spirit to the 
great beyond.  

Funeral services will be held on Saturday.  The relatives and friends will 
meet at the home at 11 o’clock, and at the Sebewa M. E. church at 12 noon.
