Cross, age 82, of Coldwater, formerly of Owosso, died Sunday, Dec. 2, 2007 at The Laurels of Coldwater. Dorothy was born April 16, 1925 in Ionia, Mich. to Edward and Helen (Dennison) Haight. She married Joseph Cross on April 27, 1943. He preceded her in death on Sept. 29, 1986. Dorothy spent most of her life in the Owosso area, coming to Coldwater to be closer to her family. She was a very devout catholic woman, graduating from St. Peter and Paul Catholic School and was very active at St. Paul's Catholic Church in Owosso. Dorothy was a wife, mother and homemaker; she enjoyed helping on the family farm and raising some of the animals. She enjoyed reading, crosswords and watching old movies, but most of all she enjoyed spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren. Mrs. Cross is survived by her son and daughter-in-law Joseph and Dorothy Cross of Coldwater, four grandchildren David (Trish) Cross, Marlene Cross all of Kansas City, Mo, Michael (Pam) Cross of Fremont, Ind. and Steven (Jacky) Cross of Kalamazoo, four great-grandchildren Kayla Puthoff, Talulah and Jackson Cross, Penelope Cross and her sister-in-law Helen Morrison of Saranac, Mich. In addition to her husband, Dorothy was preceded in death by her brothers and their wives Howard and Marion and Irvin and Jeanne Haight. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, Dec. 5, 2007 from 5 to 7 p.m. at Dutcher Funeral Home in Coldwater. Visitation will be in Owosso on Thursday, Dec. 6, 2007, from 2 to 8 p.m. with the Rosary at 7 p.m. and Friday, Dec. 7 from 9 to 10:30 at Nelson-House Funeral Home in Owosso. The Mass of Christian Burial will be Friday, Dec. 7, 2007 at 11 a.m. at St. Paul's Catholic Church in Owosso with Rev. Fr. John Fain officiating. Interment will follow at 3 p.m. at Mt. Olivet Cemetery in Ionia. Memorial donations may be directed to the St. Paul's Catholic School Trust Fund. Arrangements by Dutcher Funeral Home, 440 W. Chicago St. Coldwater, MI 49036.
