He was born October 26, 1889, in Traverse City. December 29, 1915, he was married to Rena A. Berg of Elk Rapids. Mr. Culman lived most of his life on the Old Mission peninsula. He operated a bakery in Elk Rapids from 1920 to 29 then moved to Traverse City where he lived until 1970 when he moved to Ionia. Surviving are his wife, Rena; three sons, Robert of Ionia, Richard of Grand Rapids and Gerald of Leland; sister, Mrs. H.J. Soeheide of Grand Rapids; five grandchildren and five great grandchildren. Funeral services were Friday at 11 a.m. at Hibbard funeral chapel at Traverse City. Rev. Fr. Louis VanBergen was celebrant and interment was at Oak Wood cemetery at Traverse City.
