Culmer Follows Two Sons Lived Near Lake Odessa Twelve Years. Leaves Two Sons Sarah M. Carr was born at Northville, Ill, April 2, 1843. She was the eldest daughter of R. D. and Hannah Carr. Her mother passed away when she was only four years of age, she was cared for during her early years by kind, loving friends and relatives, her father going to California to make his home. At the age of twenty-one years she was married to John Culmer of Northville, Ill, taking up their residence at that place where they conducted a general store and kept the post office for 37 years. At Mr. Culmer’s death she with her family moved to Somonank, Ill, remaining there two years, later taking up their home on a farm where spent the remaining time, until two years ago when she came to live with her daughter, Mrs. Abbie Elwood. She was a loving mother and always ready to do for her family and friends. She united with the Methodist church in early years and lived a true Christian life to the end. She departed this life March 30, at 1:45 a.m., being at the time of her death just two days less than 89 years old. She leaves to mourn her departure two sons Charles of Fort Dodge, Ia., Dallas of Woodstock, Ia.; Mrs. Kate Wroot, Corona, Cal.; Mrs. Mary A. Beebe, Sandwich, Ill.; Mrs. Abbie Elwood, Somonank, Ill.; and Mrs. Goldie Schumacher, Sandwich, Ill., and thirty-two grandchildren and forty-two great-grandchildren besides a host of dear friends.
