Culp, 48, of 654 North Jackson street died suddenly Wednesday, January 7, at 3:10 p.m. of a heart attack while at work at the Ionia State hospital. Coroner Dale Kauffman was summoned and attributed death to a heart disorder. He was born in Bangor July 8, 1904, son of Lawrence and Latta Culp. He moved to Ionia from Kalamazoo in 1940 and has worked for 12 years at the state hospital. He was married to Iva Duncan at Haber Springs, Ark., November 15, 1941. Culp was a member of the Lincoln Avenue Baptist church and taught Sunday school. Survivors besides the wife, are a son, James, at home; the mother, Mrs. Lawrence Culp, of Kalamazoo; two sisters, Mrs. Gladys Norman of Kalamazoo and Mrs. Marcia Smith of Galesburg; and two brothers, Ernest of Downey, Calif., and Richard of Sacramento, Calif. Services will be held at the Boynton funeral home Saturday at 2 p.m. with the Rev. R. J. Anderson officiating. Interment will be in the family lot, Balcom cemetery.
