Robert Cummings, 64, of 216 Burgess, Lyons, died Monday at Ionia County Memorial
hospital following an extended illness.  He was born February 11, 1909, in
Blanchard the son of William Robert and Bertha Spade Cummings and was a former
resident of Long Lake.  March 11, 1932, he was married at Six Lakes to Ruth
Foote who survives.

He was employed at A.O. .Smith from 1941 until his retirement in 1969.  He lived
most of his married life in the Ionia area and the past six months was a
resident of Lyons.  He attended Shiloh Community church, was a former member of
the Moose lodge, and sergeant at arms of the A.O. Smith local union for nine years.

He was preceded in death by a son, Robert, in 1969.  Surviving besides the wife,
Ruth, are two sons, William and Philip, both of Ionia; daughter, Mrs. Doris
Randall of Lyons; nine grandchildren; two brothers, John of Ionia and George of
Blanchard; three sisters, Mrs. Nina Schlappi of Ionia, Mrs. Anna Royce of
Blanchard and Mrs. Frances Harkness of Edmore.

Funeral services will be Tuesday at 1:30 p.m. at Myers-Roetman funeral home. 
Rev. Kenneth Harger will officiate and interment will be at Orleans cemetery. 
Family will be at the funeral home Tuesday and Wednesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9
p.m.  A memorial has been established for the cancer society.
