Lake Odessa Wave - January 6, 1977
          FORMER RESIDENT DIES AT FLORIDA
   Mrs. Velma (Deeg) Cunningham, age 75, of Oak Bend Trailer Park, Dunedin, Florida,
a former Lake Odessa 
resident, passed away Wednesday December 29, 1976 at Mease Hospital Dunedin,
Florida.
   She was born in Barry County, January 4, 1901, the daughter of Levi and Hannah
(Schmidt) Degg. Velma 
graduated from Lake Odessa High School in 1919.  She taught in the Bretz and Lake
Odessa Schools as well 
as teaching in the Lansing Public Schools for 22 years.  She moved to Florida in
1959.
   Mrs. Cunningham was a member of the Episcopal Church of God and the church
women's organizations in 
Dunedin. She was a life member of the Michigan Education Association.
   Survivors are:  two sisters, Mrs. Bertha Chipchase of Dunedin and Mrs. Ruth
Kienzle of Grand Rapids.
   Funeral services were held Tuesday morning at 11:00 o'clock at the Pickens-Koops
Funeral Chapel in Lake 
Odessa.  Rev. Randall Metz officiated.  Burial was in Lakeside Cemetery.
