He was the son of Mr. and Mrs. Thomas Cunningham of that village A cousin Jimmie Cunningham, 15, also of Hubbardston suffered minor injuries. Joyce Kirvin, 15, of Maple Rapids, a passenger in the Cunningham car was not injured. Marvin Drake of Fowler was the driver of the second car. He was not injured. According to Clinton County officials the accident occurred at the intersection of Tallman Road and the Clinton-Gratiot County-line road. The Cunningham car struck the car driven by Drake near the rear fender. Frederick Cunningham was thrown from his own vehicle which then apparently ran over him as it crashed into a tree. Dempsey Ebert, coroner, of St. Johns, said the boy had been killed instantly and that there would be no inquest. He is survived by his parents; three sisters, Mrs. Robert Barker, Mrs. Keith Clark and Mrs. Theresa Speckin of Hubbardston; five brothers, Gerald of Fenwick, Keith and William of Hubbardston, and John and Lawrence at home. Mrs. Catherine O’Berry and Mrs. Frank Wizorek of Ionia are aunts and Lawrence Kane of Ionia is an uncle of Cunningham. Funeral services were held Wednesday morning at 10 o’clock from St. John The Baptist church in Hubbardston.
