Washington Currie died at his home Wednesday, March 13, after a short illness. He had been in poor health for a number of years, and gradually failed, until the severe illness came upon him which caused his death. He was born in Oneida county, N.Y., March 11, 1834, and came to Ionia county when seven years old. He was married Dec. 10, 1854, to Miss Alvira Sweet, in Monroe county, N.Y., and in the spring of 1855 they settled on the farm in Easton, where they lived until they died. Mrs. Currie’s death occurred Oct. 15, 1898. One son was born, George, who resides on the old homestead. Mr. Currie was a good man, of a quiet, unassuming nature, kind hearted, honest and up-right in his life and dealings, esteemed and respected by all who knew him. In his home life he was kind and patient, and bore his sickness in a manner that endeared him to all. He has lived with, and been cared for during the past nine years by his son George and wife, and will be greatly missed by them. The funeral services were held at the house Friday forenoon, and were in charge of the Rev. L. B. Kenyon. Interment in Easton cemetery. Mr. and Mrs. George Currie wish to thank their friends who in any way assisted during the illness and since the death of their beloved father.
