Mae Hammond was born September 5, 1875, in Phelps, N.Y., the daughter of DeWitt and Anna Hammond, coming to Michigan with her parents at an early age. Her girlhood years and after her marriage to Fred Currie were spent in Orleans township until 1918 when they moved to Grand Ledge where they have since resided. She is survived by her husband, Fred, and one son, Carlton Currie, Ph.D., of Wesleyan university, Buckhannon, W.Va.; 3 grandchildren, Bruce, Carol and Phillip Currie, and several nieces and nephews. The funeral was held Monday at 2 p.m. from the Peters Funeral Home in Grand Ledge. The remains will rest in the mausoleum at that place.
