The Ionia Standard, Friday, September 22, 1882

Patrick Curry, a Pewamo teamster, was killed by a runaway team last Saturday.  
The team was attached to a water tank and was engaged in drawing water to a 
steam thresher, and becoming frightened dashed down the road.  The wagon 
struck a stone pile throwing Curry out and breaking his neck.  He died almost 
instantly.  The accident occurred about 2 ½ miles north of the village.
