Ionia county had two cases of suicide in one day this week, the first occurring 
about 7:30 Tuesday morning when Wilbur Curtis, 87-year-old Easton township 
resident and prominent farmer, shot himself through the heart with a shotgun.  
The dead body was found in a corn field adjoining the Curtis home about an hour 
later by Mrs. Curtis and a neighbor.  He had been suffering from heart trouble 
for some time and it is thought he took his own life during a fit of despondency.
