The Ionia Daily Sentinel, Monday, September 16, 1912
John E. Curtis, aged 78 years, died in Keene township Saturday evening of 
cancer of the stomach.  Mr. Curtis at one time was proprietor of the feed barn 
on Third street now Carten’s store and was a resident of Ionia.  Burial took 
place this morning in North Plains cemetery after services at the home of his 
daughter, Mrs. Ransom Peabody.  Rev. Branch officiated.
