The Hastings Reminder, January, 2010

Royal Wayne Curtis, of Lake Odessa, passed away early Sunday morning, January 
17, 2010, at Carveth Village in Middleville, Mi at the age of 99. Wayne was 
born in Lake Odessa on September 2, 1910 to Fred and Ardella (Black) Curtis. 

He graduated from Lake Odessa High School in 1927. Wayne had farmed his entire 
life on the Curtis family farm on West Musgrove Highway near Lake Odessa. He 
never married. Uncle Wayne loved to fish with his buddies, play cards, and 
tell about events from the old times. He read his daily newspaper all the way 
through every day. He could often be found in is living room watching three 
television sets at the same time when he still lived on the farm. 

Wayne was preceded in death by his parents; his brother and sister-in-law, 
Rowland J. and Fannie A. Curtis; and his nephew, Blaine "Bud" Curtis. He is 
survived by his nieces, Carlene (Melvin) Lindner of Middleville, Rosalee 
(Robert) McDowell of Wyoming, MI, and Thelma Curtis of Lake Odessa; great 
nieces, Mari Anne Lindner and husband, Herbert Heppner, Sally Curtis and 
fiancé, Patrick Jaloszynski, Sandra (Brian) Olmstead, and Colleen (Rudy) 
Schulte; great nephews, David (Laurie Ann) Curtis, Curt (Diane) McDowell, and 
Clint (Julie) McDowell; and thirteen great great nieces and nephews. 

The funeral and committal services will be held at 1:00 PM on Wednesday, 
January 20, 2010 at the Koops Funeral Chapel in Lake Odessa, with a time of 
visitation beginning one hour prior to the service. Interment will be in 
Lakeside Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to Pennock Hospice or 
Carveth Village.
