His body still sleeps beneath the waters. The place in which he was employed lost a faithful, energetic worker; his parents lost a son whom they had treasured far better than gold; and the city lost a young man who was on the threshold of manhood, who would have made a citizen that it would have been proud to possess. Above is a likeness of Hallie as he appeared before the tragedy. The picture was taken at the MacDonough studio just a few weeks before the happening. He had told Mr. MacDonough, the photographer, that he was having the picture taken to surprise his mother. But a reward everlasting comes to a young man with such noble aspirations and high ideals as Hallie possessed.
