Curtis, 86, retired farmer, died Sunday, May 14 at 4 a.m. at Cook’s rest home in Ionia. He had been a patient at the home for the past three weeks and suffered a fractured hip several days before his death. He was born April 18, 1870 in Barry county, the son of Henry and Anna Curtis and married Virena Lipscomb November 11, 1895 at Marshall. Residing on the farm southwest of town for five years, he then moved to the village where he resided for the past ten years, when he retired. He was a member of the I.O.O.F. Preceded in death by his wife in February of this year, he is survived by two daughters, Mrs. Edward Pickens of Portland and Mrs. Charles Palmer of Lake City; one brother, Robert, one sister, Mrs. Alice Lepard, both of Lake Odessa; three grandchildren and two great grandchildren. Funeral services will be held Tuesday, May 15 at 2 p.m., at the Pickens funeral chapel, with the Rev. Paul Robinson officiating. Burial will be in Lakeside cemetery.
