Nettie Curtis, 85, of 610 First, Lake Odessa, died Friday at Ionia Manor. she was born April 20, 1903, in Bear Lake, the daughter of Jesse and Mary Deardesley Miller. She moved to the Lake Odessa with her parents as a child. She was a graduate of Lake Odessa High School in 1921 and then county normal in Mount Pleasant. She then taught in several Lake Odessa area schools. She married Voight H. Curtis June 10, 1923. He preceded her in death Sept. 3, 1968. She was a member of the Central United Methodist Church on Lake Odessa, the Friendship Club, the Recreation Club, the Three by Four Club, the Jolly Dozen, the Senior Citizens Farm Bureau and the Commission on Aging. She is survived by four daughters, Jacquelyn Gilliland of Lake Odessa, Joan Trentiss of Interlochen, Janice Kenyon of Portland, Jerilou Cross of Lake Odessa; two brothers, Ernest Miller of Engadine, Russell Miller of Falls Church, Va.; 17 grandchildren and 28 great grandchildren. She ws preceded in death by two sisters, one brother and one great-grandchild. The funeral was Feb. 20, at 1:30 p.m. at the Koops Funeral Chapel in Lake Odessa with the Rev. Charles Richards and the Rev. Keith Whipple officiating. burial was in Lakeside Cemetery. Memorial contributions can be made to Alzheimer's Disease Association and the Diabetes Foundation.
