Daily Sentinel - Friday, Feb. 1, 1934

Mrs. Anna Curtis, 93, died at her home a half mile east of the Tamarack church 
near Lake Odessa Wednesday and burial was in Lakeside cemetery at Lake Odessa. 
Mrs. Curtis broke her hip about a week ago when she slipped on a rug and fell. 
She was born a mile west of Tamarack church and had always lived in that 
vicinity. She leaves seven sons, John of Kalamazoo, Levi of Charlotte, Robert, 
Michael, Ira and Earl of Lake Odessa and Wilbur of Nashville and one daughter, 
Mrs. Robert Lepard of Lake Odessa.

Daily Sentinel - Feb. 2, 1934
Funeral services were conducted Thursday afternoon at the Church of Christ at 2 
o'clock for Anna B. Curtis. Rev. Paul L. Steward officiated, followed by the 
Maccabees ritualistic service conducted by Mrs. Frances Barns and the burial 
service of the Eastern Star. Bearers were Byrorn Smith, Hiram Crandall, Abe 
Snyder, Otto Zander, Earl Mason and Sidney Rochester. Five orders attended in a 
body. They were, The Lady Maccabees: Order of Eastern Star, Captain Frank 
Curtis auxiliary, Women's Relief corps, Beatrice Rebekah lodge and the Spanish 
American War Veterans. Mrs. R. A. Colwell and Mrs. Claude Hathaway sang, 
accompanied by Mrs. Ted Bloomer. Flowers were in charge of Mr. and Mrs. Guy 
Messecar. Burial at Highland Park cemetery. Those from out of town who attended 
the services were Mr. and Mrs. W. E. Coates, Thomas Coates and Mrs. Frances 
Burns, all of Detroit.
