Lake Odessa Wave - February 16, 1956
           VIRENA CURTIS DIED WEDNESDAY
   Mrs. Virena Curtis 80 passed away early Wednesday morning at the
Ferguson-Droste-Fergguson sanitarium 
in Grand Rapids.  She has been a patient there for a week and under went surgery
last Thursday.
   She married Ira Curtis November 11, 1896 at Marshall and had resided on their
farm southeast of town for 
50 years before moving to their home in the village 10 years ago when he retired.
   Mrs. Curtis was a member of the WSOS of the Methodist Church, Refuge Rebekah
Lodge and Merry Social 
Club.
   Surviving are her husband Ira, two daughters Mrs. Edward (Ruth) Peckins of
Portland and Mrs  Charles R. 
(Maxine) Palmer Lake City, one sister Mrs. Sarah Guffen of Hastings, one brother
Everett Lipscomb of Grand 
Rapids, 3 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren.
   A daughter Naomi Leak preceded her in death in 1934.
   Mrs. Curtis reposes at the Pickens Funeral Chapel where funeral services will be
held.  Friday at 2.  Burial in 
Lakeside cemetery with Rev. Paul Robinson officiating.
