Daily Standard - Monday, May 7, 1894

Alice, the 13 years old daughter of Lewis Curtis, of Ronald, died  of 
diphtheria Saturday night. No other cases have been reported in this vicinity. 
She was ailing all the week, but the case was not pronounced diphtheria until 
Thursday. There are several children in the family, who attended school during 
the week, and some apprehension is felt, although it is hoped the infection has 
not spread.
