Louis C. Curtis, 56, died Wednesday at the Langley A.F.B. Hospital in Virginia. He was born July 9, 1898 in Easton township and was a veteran of World War I. Surviving besides his wife, Winifred, is one sister, Mrs. Leona Myers of Reseda, California and one brother, Kenneth Curtis of Vermontville. The funeral will be held at the Truesdell funeral home in Kalamazoo, Tuesday morning at 10 o’clock. Subsequent Publication: Thursday, march 31, 1955 Funeral services for M-Sgt. Louis C. Curtis of 43 Cedar avenue, Newport News, Virginia, were held in Kalamazoo Tuesday morning at 10 o’clock in the Truesdale chapel with the Dr. William A. Keith officiating. Joseph B. Westnedge, American Legion Post No. 36 were in charge at the cemetery. Mr. Curtis died Wednesday evening at the Langley Air Base Hospital, Newport News, Virginia. He was born July 9, 1898 in Ionia, the son of Harry E. and May S. Morgan Curtis. He was a retired master sergeant and a World War I veteran. Mr. Curtis enlisted in the Air Force in September of 1942 and served overseas from July 1944 to July 1945 and was in the Berlin Airlift for six months. Ten years prior to his enlistment he was associated with the Clear Stream Farm at Oshtemo. He was a member of the First Congregational church of Kalamazoo. Survivors besides his wife, Winifred M., are his step-mother Mrs. Carrie Curtis of Belding; one brother, Kenneth M. of Vermontville; one sister, Mrs. Leona Myers of Reseda, Calif., two nephews, Gordon Myers of Kansas City, Mo., and David Curtis of Vermontville. Those attending from Ionia were Mr. and Mrs. Purl Johnson and Mr. and Mrs. George Mitchell.
