January 6, 2024 CURTISS Larry Robert Curtiss, age 83, went to his heavenly home on January 1, 2024. He passed away peacefully at home surrounded by is family.Larry was born on March 9, 1940 in Lake Odessa, the son of Stephen and Sarah (Tanner) Curtiss, Sr. He attended Hendeliter School in Berlin Township, MI and graduated from Saranac high School with the class of 1958.Larry went to Michigan State University graduating in 1960 with a degree for 2 years Ag Short Course & Elevator Supply Management. On August 6, 1960, Larry married Carmen Rae Williams of Clarksville,Michigan. They were married for 63 years.Larry moved to Battle Creek,Michigan where he worked for Farm Bureau, then returned to Clarksville,Michigan to Manage the Grain-Feed Mill at CR Runciman's. He went on to Smith Brothers Elevator in Lake Odessa,MI as a feed salesman before purchasing the grain and feed mill from CR Runciman's and ran the Clarksville Elevator from 1973-1978 along with the Lowell and Reed City elevators. Larry's final employment was at Herbruck's, as the feed mill manager, at the Grand River Rd location in Saranac, for 23 years. He was a life-time farmer. Larry was an active member of the Clarksville Lion's Club & Gideons.He was a Life-Time member of the West Berlin Wesleyan Church where he was the Head Trustee & Chairman of the Board that built the Ebenezer Center. Surviving Larry is his loving wife, Carmen Curtiss of Lake Odessa; children, Deborah (Curtiss) & Paul Phillips of Apalachin, New York and Larry Raymond & Elsie Curtiss of Lake Odessa,Michigan. Grandchildren Dawn (Phillips) & Jeremy Carsman and Larry Ryan Curtiss & Kayla Burns of Lake Odessa,Michigan. Great- grandchildren Julia Ann Carsman and Larry Ryker & Lydia Raeann Curtiss; sister Linda (Curtiss) & Richard Mason of Marion, Indiana. He was preceded in death by his parents Sarah (Tanner) & Stephen Curtiss, Sr. Brothers Stephen Curtiss, Jr., Clyde & Eula Curtiss. Sisters Dorothy & Marvin Hawkins and Lois Curtiss. Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m., Friday, January 5th at West Berlin Wesleyan Church with Pastors John Williams and Todd Whittum officiating.Interment Clarksville Cemetery.Visitation will be held 6:00-8:00 p.m. Thursday, January 4, 2024 a the West Berlin Wesleyan Church Ebenezer Center and 1 hour prior to services.Those wishing may make memorial contributions to Gideon's International or Winding Creek Camp.
