Cushing, 69, wife of Charles Cushing, died Wednesday at 7:30 p.m. at her home on West Main street. She was the only child of Mr. and Mrs. James N. Soule, members of an old Ionia family. Born December 21, 1869, in Ionia, she spent all of her life here, attending the Ionia schools and teaching music. As Blanche Soule she was married on December 1, 1890, to Charles Cushing at her parents’ home on West Lincoln avenue. Mrs. Cushing attended the Baptist church for many years and was a member of the Ella Hutchins circle. She had been an invalid since 1925 when she suffered a stroke. Survivors besides her husband are a son, James Cushing, and a grandson of Lansing; and the following cousins: Mrs. Caroline D. Crispin, Miss Ethel Crispin and Charlotte Soule of Ionia; Byron Moon and L. R. Crispin of Olympia, Washington. Another son, Louis Cushing died in 1927 in Kansas. Funeral services will be held at 2:30 p.m. Saturday at the Stone funeral home with burial in Highland Park. Rev. George Woolcock, pastor of the Baptist church, who is in Detroit is expected to officiate at the services. Friends may view the body at the Stone funeral home.
