It is sad, very sad. The idolized wife of a husband to whom she had been married only five years the 5th of next month, a sweet baby girl two years old, a pleasant home, she had all which would seem to make life sweet and desirable, except one thing, health. She had never been strong or robust and the last few years in particular had suffered much. She had been advised that her only hopes of attaining good health lay in having an operation performed. She decided upon having it performed, and it was done at St. Mary’s hospital, in Grand Rapids, last Saturday. As far as the operation was concerned it was entirely successful but the chloroform which it was necessary to administer caused violent sickness of the stomach; so that no nourishment could be retained. This lasted until Monday evening when there appeared to be a change for the better and strong hopes and expectations of recovery were entertained. But Tuesday morning the heart action became attacked and the system was too weak to rally, and she passed quietly away at about ten o’clock as easily and peacefully as a tired child goes to sleep. Dot M. Cusser, was the adopted daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Ed. Wright, of Greenville, was born there 26 years ago the 7th of last month. She came to Belding a little more than seven years ago and for two years was assistant bookkeeper in the office of the Hall Bros. M’f’g. Co., as it was then. At the end of that time she left to assume the higher and nobler duty of wife to W. Lee Cusser, the present assistant cashier of the Peoples Savings Bank. Their married life has been a happy one only marred by the one shadow, her health. The bereaved husband will have one consolation in his sorrow, he done what he could, and has no vain regrets to mourn over now. The number of their friends are only limited to the number that knew them, and all deeply sympathize with him, in this great loss. The funeral services will be held from the home on Bridge street, this afternoon at 2:30, Rev. Staley conducting them, and the burial in the River Ridge cemetery. Beautiful flowers in great profusion have been sent by friends, until one room is nearly filled. Their sweet perfume being emblematic of the sweetness of her character and life, fragile, delicate, yet giving pleasure and happiness to all about her.
